These are super cute to make for your keys or rear view mirror
I used these as wedding favors at my wedding, I added a personalized ribbon that had my wedding hashtag and wedding date. It was affordable to make and fit my wedding theme.
You can see other things we made for my wedding here
Because these are so small it was kinda hard to photograph all the steps in making these, but I will try and explain the best I can.
I will put a little clip of the looping process on my Instagram under my 'DIY' highlights for better visual reference. side note; I am not a master at these. These take patients. My mother is demonstrating for me because mine are not this clean looking. You can totally just do a random design with the wire, I just like this look more. If you love your work and what you create that is all that matters.
These are the supplies you will need.
Beading wire, I used something similar to this. Wire cutters aren't pictured, but depending on how thin your wire is you could use a pair of scissors. You can buy a super affordable pair here. I think the thinner the wire the better because it makes it easier to manipulate. key chain rings. I chose to do one big and one smaller. Here is an awesome deal on an assortment of key rings. beads and ribbon/string depending on your personal preference. Step 1
first and easiest step is to simply wrap your wire around your key chain a few times, just to make it secure.
Step 2
Then you are going to make little cursive 'e's. Try to make all your loops the same size. Just loop the wire around and give some slack so a little of it dips down. Don't get frustrated if it isn't turning out "pretty" yet, this is a lot easier said than done. But it is doable.
Step 3
Now that you have one round finished, start on your second. You are going to be doing the same thing but instead of going around your medal ring you are going to be looping thru the holes you just made. Make sure you continue in the same direction as when you started, and to enter into the big hole and come up thru to make another cursive 'e' form. Keeping your loops the same size is the key to making this look better and to be a little easier.
It might help if you follow how the wire went in this picture, trace it with your finger or eyes and try to mimic it. Step 4
If you have made it this far than you were born to create detailed work. Now you are going to be doing the exact same thing in the same direction but you are going to skip every other hole.
I know this is so confusing to look at, but you can kinda see how every other hole was skipped, now that we are getting towards the middle leave some wire to put your bead on.
Step 5
Put your bead on and wrap your left over wire around the loops, Or cut it off after you have secured the bead.
Step 6
Add your ribbon or string to it and you are finished! I tied a piece of string from the top of mine and hug it in my car, but you can use it as a key chain or an accessory
